MWC 2013: ZTE Introduces Grand Memo with 5.7-Inch Large Screen

There has been a trend in the smartphone market when other manufacturers saw the great succeed of Samsung's 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2. That's to say, displays of smartphones are becoming larger and larger. Let along Huawei's 6.1-inch Ascend Mate, another large-screen handset, the Grand Memo, has been shown at MWC 2013 recently. This monster is made by ZTE, another Chinese large phone manufacturer other than Huawei.

Running Android Jelly Bean, the ZTE Grand Memo comes up with a 5.7-inch display with 720 * 1280 pixels resolution and 258 ppi. It's quite regrettable that the display only supports 720p. The phone has 16 GB of internal storage but lacks microSD slot. It has 1 GB of RAM, too.

Moreover, for cameras and battery specs, the Grand Memo is equipped with a high-resolution 13.0 MP rear camera, which supports auto focus, Panorama and 1080p video recording. The front-facing camera has 1.0 MP. A large screen always means large power consumption, such a device is actually powered by a massive 3200 mAh battery.

The processor issue of Grand Memo deserves to be mentioned. It was said the phone 
packs the latest and most high-end Snapdragon 800 processor, sourced from ZTE's press release at MWC. It was skeptical and really weird for a mid-end smartphone to have a top-level CPU. Finally it was found out that the device only comes up with a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 processor, not a 800 one --- ZTE made a serious mistake in its PR (as the pic shown below).

The ZTE Grand Memo will be available in China next month, followed by European markets in April. It's unknown whether the phone will be sold in the U.S. or not, and pricing details are currently not available.

Despite lacking a 1080p display, it's still an enjoyment for watching movies and playing games with this device. As to the Flash playing issue, since Adobe Flash is no more supported on Android, to play Flash on ZTE Grand Memo, users can not only install 3rd party flash players on Google Play but also convert SWF files to video format.

SWF to Facebook: How to Share Flash on Facebook?

When we're surfing Internet, we are always attracted by different kinds of flash animations on the webpages, some of those are lovely, cool or funny. I also believe some of you are SNS masters who love to share your life styles on Facebook, twitter or other SNS sites with friends. Here comes a question: How can I share a flash animation, an e-card or even a flash game on Facebook?

There should be several ways to do the trick. In the past, users could embed flash files to Facebook Pages with an app called FBML. However, it's no longer available since June 2012. The FBML has been replaced by a new app named "Easy HTML - Static FBML". Try this new app if you're familiar with HTML as well as Chinese characters.

Step 1 Download, install and open the Flash to Facebook Converter.

Step 2 Input flash file. On the interface of converter, click "Browse..." button and choose an option from the drop down menu. If the flash file is already stored on your computer, select "From Folder". If it's still embedded on a webpage, select "From Url". Multiple flash files conversion mode is supported as well.

Step 3 Select output video format. On the converter, click "Export" tab and check the "Video" box. Then visit Facebook help center to know what kinds of video formats does Facebook support. As it says, "you'll have the best luck with the MP4 format", we may choose .mp4 as the output format. For example, we select "HD H.264 MPEG-4 AVC Video (*.mp4)" option from the "Style" drop-down menu.

Step 4 To ensure the converted video can be uploaded and played smoothly on Facebook, we need to set the video parameters. On the "Export" tab, click Settings button, then a new "Profile" window pops up.

We have checked on Facebook help center in advance, it's said the best format to upload is H.264 video with AAC audio in MOV or MP4 format,and the larger edge of the video not exceeding 1280px. The setting of my video is like this:

Step 5 Click "Convert" tab to start conversion. On the preview screen, click "Play and Capture" and "Finish" buttons to start the process. When it's done, the converted MP4 video can be stored in a specific computer folder.
